The couple that plays together may very well stay together, but sometimes only half of the couple is interested in playing in the first place. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course — until the issues start up about how much time you spend on your favorite game. That’s where the dreaded spouse aggro comes from, when the biggest threat you’ll encounter in Guild Wars comes not from parties of healers and anti-caster NPCs, but from your significant other yanking the power cord mid-pull.

Sometimes the non-playing half of the couple has a legitimate point and you really are spending more time on the game than with your partner. Other times it’s just a case of your partner not being interested and expecting you to give up the hobby obligingly. Have you ever gotten a bad case of spouse aggro? Was it from your spouse, or was it a girlfriend or boyfriend? Did you work matters out, or was that the signal for better or worse that it was time to move on?

Zach enjoys PvP in all its forms, thus celebrating when some form of PvP was introduced to the Facebook game Pirates Ahoy!

Let’s continue from last week’s handy guide which was titled intentionally to play on the various meanings of “good.” This week, we’ll go through a few pointers at how to win at everything. Or, at the very least, to put up a decent fight and not go down in a terribly embarrassing fashion. That’s all one can really ask for — that one puts up a fight. Note that in most cases, the victor won’t care because a win is a win, especially in PvP. There are no moral victories in PvP, but there are educational defeats. If you’re going to lose, at the very least learn from it, right?

The first rule to winning is to think you can win. If you don’t give yourself a chance to win by thinking you’re outmatched, then unless your opponent is a total buffoon, she’s already won. Don’t worry too much about class or your level differential. You must go into the battle thinking you can win or, if you’re a healer, at least survive indefinitely. It doesn’t matter if you can actually win or not, especially when you’re clearly outmatched, such as when you’re many levels below your opponent. In such cases, your opponents already expect to win, so if you surprise them with some resistance or maybe even bring them dangerously low, then you will have put some doubt into their heads. As I mentioned last week, most griefers don’t actually look for a challenge. So there, the most important rule: Believe you can win.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Services confirmed that no store located on an Army or Air Force bases will be able to sell the reboot. That ban includes 49 GameStops located across the continental U.S., and to all military bases worldwide.

In an email sent out to employees, GameStop said they will be pulling all marketing material relating to the game from those stores. Customers wishing to reserve a copy of Medal of Honor will be directed to an off base GameStop location.

It’s easy to dismiss Wizard101 as nothing more than a cute MMO for kids, but the game has proven that it has quite a bit of depth and staying power. And September is the milestone to mark it by, since the game launched in September of 2008. With the arrival of the two-year anniversary for the game, the production staff for KingsIsle Entertainment has posted a short letter to commemorate the achievement and discuss the game’s future in brief.

Obviously, one of the big points of the future is the release of Celestia, which is currently slated for early fall. The new area and concurrent free expansion will raise the level cap and offer players a variety of new abilities, in addition to the eponymous underwater zone. To help kick off the pending launch, the development team is promising a quest later this month featuring “one of the hottest teen icons on the planet.” It’s been a busy two years for Wizard101, and it looks like the team is looking forward to many more.

As it turns out, the upcoming game has nothing to do with the sci-fi film of the same name. Instead, it will be a downloadable platformer utilizing a color switching mechanic similar to that which is found in Ikaruga.

As in Treasure’s classic shooter, it will be possible to switch between light and dark forms to avoid enemy attacks. In addition, light forms can only hurt dark foes, and vice versa.
