How Steam is Saving PC Gaming
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 29, 2009, 7:32 am
Steam is a great program in that it lets you download a lot of games straight to your hard drive. It also has a built in instant messaging program too so you can easily be chatting with your friends within your games. Since that is built in it also makes it much easier to be connected to friends who are playing the same games and jump straight into their games.
Since you have to have steam on your computer to play the games you downloaded through it it makes it much harder to pirate games. Many companies are turning to steam to solely distribute their games now since having a physical copy makes it ten times more targeted to be pirated.
The biggest drawback to having Steam be so anti piracy is that sometimes you want to do some stuff that just isn’t allowed with it, such as play offline. Some games you may want to put on your laptop and play them offline while you are on a trip or something. Well you have to log in to be able to play it. There may be some ways around it but at this time I am not aware of any.
All in all steam is a great program because they do bring a lot of older games back to the table that you can’t run anymore if you are running Vista. I have a few hard copies of games that I couldn’t get to work anymore because I know have Vista but since you can get it through Steam it makes it work.

The Best PC Games of 2009 – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 28, 2009, 4:19 pm
One of the most anticipated games of 2009 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It is expected to be one of the best PC games of 2009, possibly the best. Modern Warfare 2 is the next first-person shooter game in the highly successful Call of Duty series. The game is being developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is due out on November 10th, 2009, and will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, and for the PlayStation 3. A similar version for the Nintendo DS called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized will be released.
CoD: MW2 is set several years after the conclusion of Call of Duty 4. Sergeant Gary “Roach” Sanderson is the character that the player will take control of during the single-player campaign mode. Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish returns as a familiar non-player character in the game. An early mission called “Cliffhanger” was demonstrated this year during E3 2009. It followed Sergeant Sanderson as he and Captain MacTavish infiltrated a Russian base.
The game will feature a single-player mode, cooperative mode (up to two players) entitled Special Ops, and multiplayer mode. It will be available for multiplayer on local area networks, online, through the PlayStation Network, and through Xbox Live. The online player mode is rumored to retain the same experience points and unlockable reward system as Call of Duty 4, but does introduce several other new features. Activision has also announced that there will be downloadable map packs for Modern Warfare 2 via Xbox Live, and possibly through other platforms as well.
It is rumored that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released with two limited editions, one called the Hardened Edition and the other called the Prestige Edition. The Hardened Edition will contain the game, manual packaged in a steel book case, an art book, and a token to download the original Call of Duty. The Prestige Edition contains everything the Hardened Edition contains, as well as a pair of night vision goggles with the Modern Warfare 2 logo on it. This makes the Prestige Edition a true collector’s item, but also has ballooned the cost of the edition to make it one of the costliest special edition games ever.
Time will tell whether or not the game will be one of the best PC games ever. It certainly stands that this year it is one of the most anticipated PC games ever. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due for worldwide release on November 10th, 2009 and is currently available for pre-order.

Video Games And Gaming For Beginners
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 28, 2009, 11:13 am
Yes, even in the video games and gaming world, there are beginners. Newly acquainted players with a need to learn quickly and eventually surpass their competition. Video games and gaming have been around since the Atari age and are not likely to fade into the background of life anytime soon.
The gaming systems today have climbed mountains over the systems of old. With RPG (role playing games), music games, first person shooters, the list is long and the game choices are staggering. Choosing a gaming system first would be the best place to start.
Looking at and evaluating the gaming systems offered today isn’t as hard as it seems once you know how to weigh the pros and cons of each system. Check how many different games are compatible with each system and rank the system with a good selection high. See if the system offers online gaming and multiple player options if these choices are important to you. Take a look at the graphics and ask around about ease of use and glitches. Knowing you system takes you more than half way to becoming a video game guru and king.
Starting with some games that include a great tutorial like Dungeons and Dragons Heroes, any movie theme game, with a great one being Haunted Mansion, or Guitar Hero. All these video games include a no nonsense tutorial and are quite self explanatory. Once you get started with a game that tips you along as you play, you will be ready to step it up a notch. I recommend always taking a journey into the past and revisiting your old games as you acquire new ones. It is a real confidence booster as you realize just how much skill you have gained since the first time.
Racing and Skater games are a nice bridge between jumping in with the big fish and going to town on your starter games. Your reflexes get incredibly quick during play of these video games. You will also find that you are no longer looking for the buttons, but feeling your way around the controllers. The ‘aware factor’ of the video game becomes heightened and video games and gaming begin to be relaxing and fun instead of difficult and tiring. Conquering tricks and speeding to the finish line both boost your reaction time and your ability to recall effects on your controller.
One more set of interval choices and you will be a force to be reckoned with concerning video games and gaming. Let’s get up and become active with our systems. Dance, Dance Revolution is an outstanding way to keep away the couch potato syndrome and add to the dexterity of your gaming skills. The Wii system has numerous video game and gaming selections to get you motivated as well.
When you are ready and you want another challenge, my first suggestion would be to try out Fable The Lost Chapters or Baulders Gate. Once you have mastered these few video games, gaming will become what it was meant to be, Kings will be born, and a new master will be rise to the top.

The Price Of Graphics Cards For PC Gamers
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 26, 2009, 8:17 am
So there has been a ton of success for games made on the PC, not necessarily, the quantity of games shipped, but the quality of the games development. PC gamers are the new connoisseur of gaming, standards have to be met to please the most ******** of gamer on the PC. The expectancy of graphics, gameplay, controls and overall feeling of the game must present itself as a true landmark over its home console counterparts, and effectively use whatever hardware a gamer has on his PC. The line has been stretched so thin between a casual PC player like a “bejewler” from a ******** PC Vet playing all the newest first person shooters. Are PC games better than console games? and is worth all the money shoveling in order to get a worthy computer?
PC games better? Well it is all an opinion, but, PC gamers like myself value something in the mouse and keyboard as uncomfortable people might find the controls. And a lot of people like to think they get what they pay for, which in this instant I full heartedly believe. Computer hardware for gaming can get very expensive and, although, games are only 50 bucks (ten dollars cheaper than Xbox 360), the graphics card, ram upgrade and whatever else you need is an arm and toe out of your paycheck. The newest FPS Crysis is a modern gem that everyone is raving about because it gets the closest to looking as real as possible. But most people can’t play this game on their store bought Dell, they will need a graphics card that cost around 300.00 500.00 dollars. The Nvidia 8800GTX will do quite nicely, this graphics card has 512MB of ram and will make Crysis and Gears of War run better than imaginable, but is it worth the price?
I’ve come to find that the price is well worth it, the computer is my console and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Forking out the extra money for the uprising of great games is something I want to do, and personally I find it outweighing the other gaming options more than 2 fold.
So you might feel the same way as I do, and you need to get some upgrades on your computer. Well like I said if you have a fairly good processor in your computer than you need to upgrade to 2 gigs of Ram and get a graphics card with at least 256 MB, which varies with what you want to play. And there are cheaper graphics cards out there for less than 200.00 dollars, you just need to know where to look (scroll down for the link to look at games and what graphics cards they need). Other options to look at are buying a new gaming computer, check out the Area-51 7500 if you want a Desktop, or the Area-51® m5550 if you want a laptop. They both are made by the best company for gaming computers: Alienware, and will only cost you a little over 1000.00 dollars. And give you best monitors, speakers, hardware and more for playing PC games.

Flight Simulator PC Games Explained
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 25, 2009, 12:51 pm
Today, when it comes to PC games, the choices are pretty much countless. You can play online against other real people, you can play fantasy game, racing games, etc. Also, there are a few flight games out there that you can play if you like to fly.
Of course, there are differences between PC flying games and Flight Simulators. The main difference being that the simulator, does what it’s name suggests : it simulates real airplanes and real scenery.
Most PC flying games can come with real life replicas and realistic terrain, but the planes themselves are not having real maneuverability and most times the controls that are available are simply up, down, left, right and fire. This alone limits your flying experience. However, when playing a PC game you can combat various enemies and you can travel to imagined locations that fit the game’s profile. This is good if you simply want to fly around and have some fun or shoot something up.
For connoisseurs a PC game will, most times, be less than satisfying, so it will be disregarded from the start. If you are one of them you know what you want: flying. If this is the case, a flight simulator pc game is the best way to go.
Flight simulator PC games are designed to replicate to the maximum real life conditions and crafts, so that the user experiences the same feelings it would experience in a real airplane or helicopter or jet, depending on the case.
There are a few flight simulators available on the market today. However, not all are that good, so it’s important to know what to look for when purchasing one.
First of all you should be able to fly different planes or helicopters. Needless to say, that these should have real life handling. Also, when it comes to graphics and scenery, this should be as real as possible, following the 24h night and day pattern, the real position of the stars, besides real life airports and cities. Another thing to consider are the computer requirements : you want to make sure that the game will run smoothly on your PC or laptop, without having to decrease some of the details in the game, since this would spoil your flying experience.
These being said, the only thing left to do, is to choose your flight simulator pc game and enjoy your flying experience!

Retirement Computer Games – Casual Gaming For Us!
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 23, 2009, 12:42 pm
Believe it or not, one of the hottest markets for video games is not teens or young men, it’s us retirees!
Who would have thought that active adults would be participants in the video game revolution…? One of the growth areas in video gaming is what they call “casual games”, i.e. PC-based games that we non-gamers can pick up in just minutes and play with the simplest equipment.
The emphasis in casual gaming is on fun, rather than realistic, graphics. As opposed to violence, casual games are family friendly. Some are old favorites like Pac Man and poker. Games previously played with pencil and paper like Soduku are online now, and there are plenty of new strategy and mystery games geared towards us.
Broadband internet makes it possible to have a great gaming experience online. You can buy a game online for about $20. Often you can try before you buy. You can also visit the portals such as Yahoo Games, pogo.com, MSN Games and WildTangent for a wide variety of casual games. Look for new things to come from breakthrough sights like iWin.com, and MostFun.com.
If you’d like to combine a little exercise with your gaming, invest in a Nintendo Wii. You’ll need a console but can get a nice little workout from Nintendo’s sports games. It’s a great activity for groups of friends and family get-togethers. Next thing you know they’ll be putting skateboard parks in retirement communities. After all, we’re young at heart!

Full PC Game Downloads and Free Downloadable PC Games
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 20, 2009, 1:05 am
“Full pc game downloads” and “free downloadable pc games” and “illegal download pc games” are some of the highest searches online. The real question is whether you can actually download full versions through free sites and what the pros and cons are.
There are real drawbacks that avid PC gamers face when they go to free sites. Unfortunately, when you usually start your download not only will you actually download parts of the game but also adware, spyware and harmful viruses. While there is no upfront price involved to do this there is a massive price to your computer. What happens after these viruses and spyware find themselves on your pc is that they start corrupting your Windows registry, your hard drive and your files.
The end result?
Your computer slows down completely – which makes it virtually impossible to download anything anyway.
Your computer loses files which you’ll never get back – which again makes it impossible to play games.
It completely crashes – which means you need to spend $100s or even $1000s either restoring it or buying a new one altogether.
But that’s not all.
You then use massive amounts of your bandwidth and internet allowance to download what you believe are FULL versions only to find out that they are either trial copies, corrupted files or pirated versions which then infect the other programs on your site – and cause all the problems that I’ve already listed.
I know because this happened to me – and my “free” downloads ended up costing me $786.99!
That kind of freaked me out so I went on the rampage to find how to do it. I’m now completely “worry free” when downloading online – and you can be too!
For a tiny one time fee you can actually legally download games, TV shows, movies, mp3s, videos, software, wii media, psp games and virtually everything you’ll ever need. These downloads not only are legal but they are safe – no adware, spyware, or harmful viruses that cause the problems I mentioned above!
Not only that but there are millions of items to choose from. Not only can you find the hottest products but also those rare to find old pc games that you and your family members may have grown up with.

How to Configure Your PC Options For Faster Gaming Performance
Written by Going Pro Gaming Posted on Mar 9, 2009, 5:41 am
Generally experienced computer gamers would not every time demand each PC game to award them with at least 60 FPS when set at its highest configurations in 1920 x 1200 screen res. But get this, if even the most powerful dual or quad card set-ups still fail to speed up some of the newest video games with the eye candy maxed out, then plainly there should be something wrong somewhere. So how do you speed up the more graphically demanding video games without the need to upgrade on other powerful hardware?
Here is a list of tips and most commonly used visual options located in today’s video games that you can start using straight away to configure your PC for faster gaming…
A. First of all, don’t demand the earth
There are folks who run their computers on the newest Processor and Ram, however despite the terrific PC, these folks are merely capable to run the the most graphically demanding video games at a constant 60 FPS whilst everything is adjusted to the “low” visual configurations. So please don’t demand these hints and tips to produce an amazing alteration, however you must remind yourself that even a little increase of about 4-6 FPS can make the ride a heck of a lot smoother.
B. Knowing what works plus more importantly, what doesn’t
There is merely a handful of visual configurations that can produce a noteworthy alteration to a game’s speed; underneath I’ve listed some of the more popular setting tips that you notice in today more visually demanding video games…
C. The Post Processing configurations
This controls heaps of factors for example the depth-of-field as well as motion-blur. Contrary to the majority everyone’s belief, motion-blur won’t yield an obvious loss of FPS. In actual fact, switching it off is a enormous mistake since since the FPS might seem smoother the movements won’t seem as slick. However, switching off hit blurring as well as depth-of-field can help increase frame-rates in graphically demanding scenes.
D. The Shadows configurations
Changing the shadow configuration can yield a speed increase with very minimum impact on the graphics whilst compared to the superior configurations. Adjusting it to lesser configurations simply turns all of the shadows effects off and placing it on superior configurations would create softer shadowing effects that are very video card-intensive.
E. The Object Quality configurations
These configuration, though most of the time overlooked, affects the quantity, size plus quality of each object in the game and is becoming more and more customary in today’s video games. Adjusting it to medium or lower would speed up the frame-rates however there would be a lower rate in the objects that come on the monitor, the far objects would not be rendered plus there is additionally an obvious draw-in meaning the “horizon” would draw nearer than before
F. The Shader Quality configurations
This would control an effect on both graphics quality and general performance more than the other configurations. Adjusting it into “medium” would most likely speed up your video games considerably however there would be a noteworthy dip in the visual quality.
These commonly used visual configurations listed above are solely some of the many you can adjust to help increase your gaming pleasure there are quite a lot more that can be changed which you can find out for yourself. Please note that these games can still be demanding and that following the these hints above would not exactly present you the popular 60 FPS however it will increase your PC game speed that I can bank on. So please try the hints and tips and see if you notice for yourself any performance increase in your games.
